Well, you would expect that a January wedding is a pretty safe bet when it comes to the weather, especially when you are getting married in a beautiful church, and have under cover options for your photo shoot. But most couples would not expect a tropical cyclone to strike the night before their big day, and either flooding or completely removing all the roads to your venue. And that is exactly what happened to Kerry and Alarnya. But not to be out-done, Alarnya and her resourceful bridesmaids managed to find a helicopter to fly her photographer (me), marriage celebrant and make-up stylist from Whangarei to Waitangi. The crazy thing was.... it was such a beautiful sunny day in the Bay of Islands, just lots of water below!
Kerry and Alarnya, thank you for flying me up to share your wedding day with you. I realise a number of your guests were unable to get through - so here are just a few pics, I didn't want to give too much away.
The sea around Waitangi is usually a beautiful deep green/ blue........
....... and the day went off without a hitch
I thoroughly enjoyed photographing this day. As you can see, the girls had attitude (and a lot of fun)...
.... and just when you've got everyone poised......... (don't ask me what happened!)
