"As a qualified Midwife I have a particular passion for photographing maternity/ pregnancy and newborns.

I love capturing those special times in people's lives that mean so much - from engagement shoots to weddings, the nervous expectation of maternity to the sheer delight and love of a newborn. And then having the pleasure to capture the personalities and changes as a child grows".

Sweet Dreamer

This wee lass wasn't quite a newborn at 5 weeks old when she came to see me, but she was still a tiny little bundle. What got my attention when she first arrived was her beautiful porcelain white skin, it almost glowed!

It didn't take me long to work out how she liked to be soothed off to sleep, and once she was sound asleep she let me play. But she certainly didn't appreciate me disturbing her again :-) She did her Mum and Dad very proud! Here is a quick preview......

Whangarei Newborn Photographer - Sweet Bundle

I was invited to photograph this sweet wee newborn girl in her own home, just a bit easier for Mum and Dad with two busy young boys to occupy. But Dad had it sussed, taking them for a walk while Mum and I focused on their new little sister for a while.
I also had the pleasure of photographing their second wee boy when he was a newborn, and it was great to meet him again..... although I'm not so sure the feeling was mutual :-)   I couldn't get over just how alike the two handsome boys were.

This wee lady was a dream to photograph, just needing a little patience to get the poses that I was after. She never cried, just now and again waking enough to decide that she really didn't want her hand under her cheek, but she'd prefer it to wave around in front of her face....... and it was great to suck on when it got within sucking distance :)

This one was done by special request, to match the image we took of their son.

Whangarei Portrait Photographer - Special

I was honoured to be asked by this family to take their family portrait photos. Little Miss K has been playing hockey with my youngest daughter for a number of years, and she has the very good fortune of having devoted grandparents who come to virtually all our games.
The special occasion that this family was celebrating on the day that we took their photos was their 50th Wedding Anniversary. This couple are incredably inspiring with the amount of voluntary involvement that they have had in their community - from Surf Lifesaving to hockey. And I'm sure what I know about this couple is just the tip of the iceburg.......

Whangarei Newborn Photographer - Just adored

It is always such a pleasure to have clients return to have the next wee addition to their family photographed. I photographed big sister 2 years ago, and oh boy, has she grown and changed! Gone is the dark hair...... replaced by such gorgeous blonde ringlets :-) And it's funny how personalities of newborns often remain so true - Miss O was wide awake for her newborn session, right until the very end. And as a toddler she is still very bright eyed and bushy tailed, and loved running around after my cats...... thanks Grandma for helping to entertain her.

Mr A was a true star for his first photo session, sleeping the entire session! He didn't even mind big sister giving him those rushed rough 2 second cuddles. He is one very chilled out little boy!

Whangarei Newborn Photographer - Introducing Mr L.

This wee newborn's photoshoot was almost identical to his big sister's when I photographed her 2 1/2 years ago. Although we managed to coax Mr L into a bit of a snooze for a few more photos than what we managed with his sister. This was in part that they are a little older than I would prefer for a newborn shoot, but a big part is their individual personalities and not wanting to sleep much during the day. It always amazes me just how unique their personalities are at such a young age, and how some babies like some things but definitely not other poses...... at least I got the shot that Mum wanted to match the same pose as we did with his sister (that surprise is for later)..........
