"As a qualified Midwife I have a particular passion for photographing maternity/ pregnancy and newborns.

I love capturing those special times in people's lives that mean so much - from engagement shoots to weddings, the nervous expectation of maternity to the sheer delight and love of a newborn. And then having the pleasure to capture the personalities and changes as a child grows".

Whangarei Photographer - Christmas Angel

This is the second time that I've photographed this family, last time was a pregnancy shoot for their 1st daughter. So it is lovely to see their family grow.

This year Christmas came early...... this little angel was due Christmas Day, and luckily for us she arrived a week early (just like her big sister, and just as Mum had predicted!). And an angel she was. As long as her tummy was full she was a star model for me. But at only 5 days old it doesn't take long for such a small tummy to empty out - one way or another :) I hope you enjoy this preview of your images:

Whangarei Wedding & Portrait Photographer - Serious

Sometimes you come across little people who are just so busy exploring their big new world that they seem so very serious. I mean, why smile just for the sake of it? This little man certainly smiled, and he had a gorgeous smile, but we just needed to find something that he found amusing..... otherwise he was focused on this new park that he'd just been introduced to - and parks usually means people walking their dogs, and birds to watch! There is nothing very interesting about a lady with a big black thingee in front of her face.

But luckily for me Mum had a few tricks up her sleeve..... and noises! Thank goodness for little boys and their fasination with silly sounds.....

Whangarei Photographer - Mr Blue Eyes

This little dude is full of personality! And no wonder - he has two big heros (brothers) to look up to and try to keep up with. And heros they are - not only did they help me out with my backdrop when needed, they were confident handling and entertaining their little brother as well as being perfect models themselves. Thank you for being so helpful and willing to do whatever I asked. And doesn't this wee 6 week old have the most amazing blue eyes.......

And we even caught a quick smile!

Whangarei Newborn Photographer - Sweet Little Lady

I just have to say that I love my job. Meeting such lovely parents and their precious wee babies - nothing can beat it! And this couple was no exception. Their gorgeous little lady was such a sweatheart. Whether she was awake, asleep or half-way in between, she was such a gem. She allowed me to move her into any position I wanted without a single protest.

Thank you Mum and Dad for allowing me to photograph your little treasure.

Whangarei Photographer - such a fun family

Isn't it funny how you bump into people that you haven't seen in years? This fabulous new Mum and I did our nursing training together years ago, when we were straight out of high school. I am not known for having 'facial recognition technology' built into my brain, but we both recognised each other straight away. She hasn't changed a bit (I, on the other hand, seem to have gained a few wrinkles!) LOL

This was a great family to photograph. And this little baby boy is one very loved little man...... it was so fabulous to see his two teenage siblings debating whose turn it was to hold him, and wanting to be photographed with him. At all of 3 months old, he definitely has the family wrapped around his little finger! The competition was on to see who could get their little brother to laugh (I just can't remember who won!).

Thank you for asking me to photograph your family. I hope you like this peek of your images....

Whangarei Newborn Photographer - Oh so Sweet!

So just when I think I've photographed THE MOST calm and easy baby.... another little newborn shows me that I haven't seen nothin' yet!

Meet a little sweetheart - Little Miss E was 3 weeks old when I photographed her today. She only grizzled once, Mum gave her a quick feed..... and that was it! Even after the shoot had finished, Mum just popped her on the coach and she just lay there and looked around (most shoots bubs tells me when they've had enough and it is time to stop). I think this delightful little lady would have continued on all day if we gave her half the chance :)

It was a real pleasure photographing you today, Miss E, along with your fabulous Mum and Dad.

Whangarei Newborn Photographer - Delightful Mr M

This little guy came to me by referral from a previous client..... and believe it or not, I had taught the antenatal classes to this couple when they were expecting Mr M's big brother.

At just 6 days old for his first shoot, he was just delightful! We moved him, we wriggled him, we rolled him over, we changed him and pulled off his nappy.... after a little squirm he just dozed back off to sleep. He was just soooo relaxed and easy going - apart from his hands that is. He had certain ways he liked his hands and he wasn't interested in having them placed any other way! Amazing how someone so young has their own definite ideas on how they want things!

This week I have been so very busy photographing newborns.... I'm not sure if the stars are aligned correctly or someone is smiling down on me, but each baby that I've photographed this week has out-done themselves with being so incredibly chilled out. I'm crossing my fingers and toes - so long may it last! LOL

So thank you L family for inviting me into your home to photograph your two precious boys. Here is a quick peek of your images:

Whangarei Newborn Photographer - Beautiful

Meet little Miss S. At 1 week and 6 days old she was just gorgeous.... beautifully rounded out, all soft and cuddly. She was just a dream to photograph - chilled out and relaxed. When she thought she'd done enough to earn a feed she quickly let us know. And then just as quickly she was chilled out again and ready to doze off. We managed to have a play with some beads and finished off with some pics of her in a beautifully smocked dress.

The funny thing with photographing this little girl was that every time I tried to arrange her hands she would re-arrange them.... and she did a much better job at posing them than I had. LOL!
What a little angel :) I really am blessed with photographing some beautiful wee souls. Thank you A family.

Whangarei Baby Photographer - Calm

This little man was 8 weeks old by the time I got to photograph him.... sometimes that's just the way it works out. I haven't photographed many little boys of late, so was really looking forward to meeting this little man. Mum said he was a calm and laid back little dude, and she wasn't exaggerating! Little Mr L was certainly the oldest, and definitely the calmest baby I have ever photographed! He even surprised Mum by falling asleep too :)

What I found most endearing about this little guy was how similar he was to my children at this age.... big blue eyes, blond-as-blond hair (which makes it hard to see that there is actually hair there, lol).

Thank you for inviting me into your home and meeting your little man.

Whangarei Children's Photographer - Three of a Kind

These three beautiful young ladies are the daughters of a fabulous friend of mine. The K family have just shifted back up north from Wanaka, so now are a lot closer to visit. So during the school holidays I headed down with my children for a long-awaited catchup. Unfortunately Little Miss B had just come down with a tummy bug and wasn't feeling the best. Even so she was a delight...... I just had to take a photo of her ever-so-long eye lashes. I had a great time catching a few pics between 'hide-and-seek'.

Whangarei Portrait Photographer - Cousins

One thing I love about school holidays is the chance for my children to catch up with their cousins. This seems to be the one time when it really doesn't matter if they are boys or girls. They all seem to get along so well.

Whangarei Newborn Photographer - Little Miss L

This little lady came to me at 7 weeks old, a lot older than I like to photograph only because they are a lot more wakeful. Well this little lady certainly proved my theories wrong. When I arrived she had just woken from a big sleep, but only a couple of minutes lying snug and warm on my beanbag and hey presto...... she was sound asleep again. In fact so sound asleep that Mum was able to undress her without her hardly even stirring! What a baby! But as Mum had warned - as long as you don't take her clothes off over her head, she will stay dozing happily. So our undoing was trying to put a special bonnet on her....... she definitely doesn't like things on her head! LOL

I love the little details.........

She has such beautiful skin and very dark eyebrows and lashes.

..... and back awake again!
