"As a qualified Midwife I have a particular passion for photographing maternity/ pregnancy and newborns.

I love capturing those special times in people's lives that mean so much - from engagement shoots to weddings, the nervous expectation of maternity to the sheer delight and love of a newborn. And then having the pleasure to capture the personalities and changes as a child grows".

Spring Fever

Well Spring has finally sprung and the blossom is out. Hopefully the wet winter will move aside for some more warmer (and drier) blue sky days. I am tired of the slushy paddocks.

And so I have started to get motivated..........Lately I have been busy planning on updating my logo and design to more reflect my style of photography......... simple, organic, classic and beautiful.

So to celebrate I will shortly be announcing some Mini Session deals, just perfect timing for Xmas. Stay tuned............

Snug-as-a-bug

This 10 day old wee newborn certainly made me work hard during her photoshoot. She just wanted to be snuggled up with Mum. I managed to get her snoozing happily away on the warm beanbag, but then I'd decide to adjust her feet or hands. She didn't mind her feet being moved around, but she did not want her hand under her cheek....... or to wear a headband  :-)   ....... she just wanted her Mum.

Thanks Mum and Dad for your patience, your wee angle is just beautiful........

Oh, those cheeks........

This wee newborn was not quite so wee, nor quite a newborn at 3 weeks old. But she was just brilliant for her first photoshoot. She arrived wide awake so we started with her family shots, and after a bit of coaxing she happily dozed away.

With being a little older than most of my newborns she had filled out her cheeks, they were just soooo squishy! And she was such a calm contented wee lass........

Composites

Newborn safety is my number 1 priority, so some poses are just not safe enough to leave baby in just to get a shot. That is where composites come in handy - that is where 2 or more images are taken of baby, while Mum or Dad hold them. Then their hands are removed later on in Photoshop.

Unfortunately not all photographers are this careful (or aware), and will attempt some of these poses without having baby supported. Please be careful when selecting your newborn photographer.

I took these images while attending a workshop in Adelaide, run by Danielle Loxton of Words are Not Enough Photography. Enjoy!

Baby was barely an inch above the beanbag.

L for Loved

I know you're not supposed to think of a boy as beautiful, but 'beautiful' certainly sums up this wee newborn. For a start he had the most amazing amount of dark hair that just sat perfectly, and dainty little lips. He was a real charmer, giving me a few quick smiles (unfortunately I'm just not that quick with my camera). And teasing me with opening his eyes but then shutting them again as soon as I got my camera ready. He was a joy to photograph. Here is a quick preview of his images. Enjoy!
